stupid gerald, of all ppl in the world, you muz tag me.. well, i've been ignoring this msg for a REALLY long time so here goes, 5 weird things abt myself..

1. i'm rather obsessed with this the 'layout' business.. be it my table, bed, computer icons or even my letters or cards, i cant stand messiness.. i take absolutely forever juz to move things around making sure that i have the perfect layout.. somethimes it just irritates people around me.. well, thats juz me..

2. i'm also have an extreme case of travel-sickness.. i cant travel long distances for nuts.. nothing can cure me the moment i'm nauseous, no sweets, books (they make me wanna puke even more), scenery or food.. those don't help at all.. the only thing that can is stable ground and a breath of good fresh air.. that's why i dread long car journeys when i'm overseas because the car is almost always uncomfortable and restrictive of movement.. thats why my family always have so many scenic stops along the way.. in addition, the journey always take twice or three times as long as the original journey.. an example is the journy from downtown vancouver to seattle is abt 2hrs minus traffic and it took me abt 5-6hrs juz to get there because of the food stops and scenic stops.. my only cure is to force myself to sleep the moment i step into the car.. thank goodness i tend to sleep quite easily..

3. i am claustrophobic.. i cant stand small tight spaces.. my worst nightmare is to be stuck crawling through some kind of constricting metal tubing with no lights or air.. *shudders* one of my worst experiences was when i was travelling back from seattle to tokyo by air.. i was stuck in a window seat next to some giant american guy wit super long legs.. he's so huge that his head rises above everyone elses...while seated on the train.. that;s waaay huge.. he's not fat but he's just built giant-sized.. while on the 9++hr flight, he just kept coming over to my side, so that i kept squeezing myself closer and closer to the window.. it also didnt help that i couldnt sleep at all throughout the whole journey and that i watched 'charlie and the chocolate factory' abt 6 times.. arrgh.. freaky wonka.. the moment i stepped out of the train, i vomited whatever else i had in my stomach..

4. i keep buying clothes of the same colour.. i dont know why but i always have black, dark blue and orange clothes in my closet.. i dont know why but i always have them in the same colour.. its so boring.. dont ask me why but i just do it..

5. lastly, i'm obsessed with books of the asian genre.. look at my books, the rice mother, touching earth, memoirs of a geisha, passing under heaven.. its always that same kind of genre.. but i really like to read these kind of books that bring you to another world that is so distant yet so close.. its so interesting.. my whole cupboard is just like that.. and i absolutely hate horror stories, be it movies or books.. its horrid to let ur imagination run so wildly and the worst thing is that i read into the dead of the night.. so there..

i have finally accomplished reading 'memoirs of a geisha' 2 times.. i really do like the book, wished i had picked it up at times sooner, i remember seeing it there a few months earlier on the shelf but for one reason or another, i didnt buy it.. but i bought it for my trip this time at the whsmith in the terminal.. i enjoyed it thoroughly and i absolutely cant wait for the movie that is supposed to be aired here in january, wish i had stayed a little longer in the states though, then i would have been able to watch it on its premiere date, 23 dec.. wait, i just checked the website, it opened in canada and united states on the 9th of december.. ARGH! i should have gone to watch it while i was there......... what a loss.. and it was just after i finished the whole book.. grr.. however, i read some reviews saying that the plot is somewhat a flop.. the theatrical setups and costume design is great and fascinating but the plot seems a little dry and uninteresting.. well, we'll just wait and see.. however, seeing the trailer, it seems to veer towards the practical side instead of following the book, Mahema played by Michelle Yeoh is supposed to have her hair fashioned upwards, but in the trailer, michelle yeoh wears it downwards in a current style.. well, i do not deny that she did look very pretty, well, i guess it is more pleasing to the eye that way..

i also didnt expect ken watanabe who plays The Chairman to look so old and stocky, i always thought that he was quite goodlooking, well not that i had ever watched any of his movies whatsoever.. i really admire Zhang Ziyi who plays Chiyo/Sayuri in the movie.. it is really different for her because she always plays weird characters in other movies that is coered in makeup but for this movie, she looks very natural and innocent, and her hair in the earlier part is also very natural, with help from David Gan.. however, when zhang ziyi potrays herself as a geisha later, she looks very weird, i think that its because she has never put her hair that high before and painted her face such a pale white with blood red lips.. come to think of it, she looks a little like queen *whatever* in Star Wars, perhaps the queen's makeup was inspired from geishas.. :p another character worth mentioning would be Gong Li who plays the evil and hateful Hatsumomo in the movie.. it would be interesting to see her speak english and act ever so evil.. hmm, actually, i can picture some people playing the role of Hatsumomo around us.. :p

well, if you have time, you should visit the movie's international site, the site is beautifully decorated and evokes a sense of movement, flow and tranquility with its use of colours and brushstrokes..

i guess i await the dancing of the geisha the most, if you watch the trailer, it is very interesting and honestly, quite unbelievable.. most interesting..
'Memoirs of a Geisha' would definitely be one movie that i would be awaiting for this coming year.. remember to keep 19 Jan 06 free.. :p

ahz.. finally back in s'pore.. totally felt homesick while i was residing in seattle.. was so afraid for my poor starving guppies, my lovely and warm bed that i have been missing for so very long.. i was really quite homesick then, i guess its because i have never been so long from home for about 2-3years already and have lost my familiarity with travelling long vacations overseas.. whatsmore, the last time i went to vancouver/whistler was eons ago, about 5 years ago, so you might say that now as a teenager, i am at full conciousness and receiving all the details of the things around me so i guess the full impact was kinda too much for me to take in a short period of time.. just came back around one plus this morning, wanted to blog sooner but my bro couldnt sleep and wanted to play maple so i went off to read and ultimately fell asleep at around five plus and woke up ard seven when my brother went to church.. still have to unpack and keep my clothes later..

speaking of clothes, my mom and i absolutely went crazy over buying clothes the whole trip because normally we would buy christmas presents during our nov/dec trips and this was no exception.. the both of us would go into every gift shop and look for those nice things that would be soooo-(add gift recipient's name) and then we would then contemplate over the price was worth it or the price was just jacked up too high and not worth buying at all.. my aunt got quite tired of our constant visiting ofgift shops, she almost tried to push us away from seeing the shops.. :p well, anyway, on the way to seattle from vancouver, as everyone knows, is the famed factory outlets.. there were a few factory outlets so we went to three.. the clothes i bought from there are literally waist high.. naturally, i was there to egg on my mom to buy clothes.. (mom, that is SOOOO you...)(thats quite nice..)(you should go and try that.. *shoves mom into fitting room with an armful of clothes*) and she also bought lots of clothes.. i almost convinced her to buy an evening gown.. (the gowns are not at all expensive, its like max 70 sing bucks for a very nice and decent gown) lolz.. there was one time i went totally crazy and just went to a shoe shop and ran down the aisles to find nice shoes and the moment i saw one i just found my size and tried it and found it perfect (and i did that when i was alone).. when my mom came, i just thrusted the shoe box to her and just announced that i wanted it.. my mom was so shocked that i moved so fast and she had no choice to pay for it.. it was a converse sneaker by the way.. the shoes are shockingly cheap, costing about 70-80 bucks for a nice pair of shoes, whereas that very same pair would be sold for 100+++ here.. its quite a great difference.. in the end i bought two sneakers, adidas and converse, home.. of cos there are not only shoes but brands such as reebok, nike, adidas and quiksilver.. so you can imagine the amount of shopping i did.. the prices are also very cheap compared to here.. :p

in whistler, i also went fishing.. it was absolutely fantabulous.. it was a half-day thing so my family and i met our guides, tas and chris outside our lodge.. upon reaching the river, we had to quite up with some sort of giant pants that were waterproof.. unfortunately for me, i forgot to tuck up my jeans into my socks and cause my jeans to ride up to my thighs, causing them to look ridiculously fat in pictures.. :p den over the pants we wore some kind of leather shoes that helped to make our feet waterproof.. when we were all suited up for the freezing weather, (it was -7 C that day by the way, and i havent added in the wind chill yet). we walked INTO the river which was hemmed with ice which froze the night before.. my brother spent half the time stomping in the ice trying to break it like s small kid stomping in puddles with his wellingtons.. the ice is not like paper thin but >2cm thick.. it took it awhile to crack with me standing on it.. it was thhhaaaat thick.. apparently i had a great range for the rod for a beginner *smile*, according to tas but it still didnt get me any fish.. :p in fact, no one got a fish at all because of the cold temperature.. however, we spotted minnows about 7.5 inches long under the ice before my brother scared them away with his ice stomping.. :p

by the way, i fell in love with starbucks while i was there.. if they have it here, you should definitely try their Gingerbread Latte, its so nicely and homely.. great on a cold, wintry and snowy day.. i tried my best to hae one everyday i was there.. :p i even bought the syrup back home to i could still enjoy it if they dont have it here..

bought lots of presents.. but must sort them out first.. :p

i got to go eat my breakfast liaoz, feeling very dizzy dute to lack of sleep.. tatas
